Overview

About There and back again

A sporting trip, suitable for novices and fun for the experienced Points to note: Upper body strength an advantage for the Lobster pot

After Goatchurch Cavern, Sidcot Swallet is probably the most popular cave on Mendip for novice parties. Although of modest length and depth, it provides a variety of squeezes and crawls, sporting climbs and small chambers. Despite its popularity, many calcite formations still remain intact in the farther reaches of the cave. It’s probably best to rig a rope into the Lobster Pot as the exit can be strenuous.
